Tenbury's Big Dig

Hole prepared for archaeological digWork was started today by the County archaeological service to investigate the archaeological history of the Cattle Market site. Although there is some confusion and conflicting newspaper articles about Tesco's intentions and whether they have abandoned the site or are planning to reapply with a new scheme the dig started as planned.

Update 27th July 2010 : Tesco's have confirmed to the Shropshire Star that they have not abandoned the site and will be making a new application.

I thought you were going to say:-
"A well has been found and the archaeologist are looking into it"

Have they found anything that will stop tesco wanting to build on the site though?

It's a bit soon!

Mind you, the big building in the middle of the plot might slow them down.

Are you sure this is an archaeological dig? It looks very much like the foundations for a super store to me.

Did I over hear a driver of a ready-mix lorry asking for directions to Tenbury?

Yes it is an achealogical dig. They are digging in places that the store is not being built but where the car park is going to be. If they were doing foundations then they will be digging on the actual building location.
